Jim Salmon, an Accredited Consultant Meteorologist, is the President of Zephyr North Ltd., a wind resource assessment consultancy located in Burlington, Ontario. He is a graduate of Trent, York and Southampton Universities in physics, mathematics, meteorology and oceanography. His main consulting interests include siting studies for wind energy, numerical modelling of wind flow in complex terrain, and analysis and remote collection of meteorological and wind energy data. Dr. Salmon has been a consultant in the wind energy field since 1980. He has received the Andrew Thomson Prize in Applied Meteorology from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, as well as the R.J. Templin Award “For outstanding contributions to the development of Canadian Wind Energy Technology” and the Group Leadership Award from the Canadian Wind Energy Association. He is a former board member of the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-op and the Positive Power Co-op of Hamilton, and is a Past-President of the Canadian Wind Energy Association. Presently, he is adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Graduate Studies (Graduate Program in Earth & Space Science) at York University in Toronto, Canada.
